Coleen Rooney reportedly wants to reach a last minute agreement with Rebekah Vardy, after Rebekah said she is determined to “clear her name”.

The 34 year old wife of Wayne Rooney’s legal team is said to be “desperately trying to find a way” for the court battle to be solved “privately”.

Coleen, who was snapped looking glum recently, and Rebekah, 38, are set to face off in court after Rebekah filed a libel case against Coleen after she claimed her Instagram account had leaked stories about her.

After Rebekah reportedly filed papers to get the case heard immediately and shared her determination to “clear her name” Coleen is reportedly hoping to get the matter solved outside of court.

A source has told The Sun: “Things have gone much further than many had expected.

“Her legal team is desperately trying to find a way this can be settled privately.

“Coleen is a rather shy and private person, so the idea of having personal matters relating to her and Wayne raked over in court is something that fills her with dread.”

It comes after Rebekah opened up about the ongoing legal battle with Coleen on Good Morning Britain, after she was revealed as the latest star to sign up to Dancing on Ice.

After discussing her skating abilities and her upcoming appearance on DOI with GMB’s Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid, she was quizzed about “the thing they couldn’t talk about”.

Piers, 55, said: “I know there's something we can’t talk about, that everyone else is talking about. So the thing that we can’t talk about, is there anything you can say about it?”

Rebekah then told Piers off as she said: “You’re so predictable I just knew that was going to come out!”

After much persuasion from Piers, Rebekah then gave in as she confessed: “Look, we tried to sort things out amicably, it just didn’t work. I understand people think it’s ridiculous, but what was I meant to do? I need to clear my name.”

She added: “I will do whatever it takes, and I hope it's going to be resolved soon. It's just one of those things that has to go through the process, unfortunately.“

Piers then asked how tough she's found the fallout, to which she said: “I find it really tough but, to be fair Piers, in comparison to what people have gone through with covid and things like that, it's incomparable.”

Rebekah launched the defamation lawsuit against Coleen earlier this year, which is reportedly forecasted to cost the pair £1million.

Coleen’s legal team released a statement in reaction to the revelation which said: “It is disappointing that Mrs Vardy has chosen to issue court proceedings.

“Coleen feels that the time and money involved could be put to better use; her offer to meet face to face still stands.

“Mrs Vardy's decision to issue court proceedings does at least mean that Coleen's evidence can be made public when the time is right.”
