This Morning’s celebrity chef James Martin has taken to Twitter to address criticism he’s faced over his new cookbook, Butter. In a short clip to his fans, the star told how he was excited for the release of the book, as well as hitting back at criticism he’s faced over the dairy-based cookbook since announcing its launch, which is set to take place this weekend.

Which says a lot doesn’t it really, in a world where people apparently don’t eat butter

Addressing his 709,000 followers, the star greeted his fans from the garden of his restaurant in Hampshire.

James said: “Hello guys, hello from the gardens at Chewton Glen.

“The garden is busy out here, it’s looking beautiful out here on a sunny September day,” James said, while showing fans around the scenery.

Walking back inside his restaurant, the star explained the cooking class taking place behind him.

James said: “The cooking school is in full swing, Steve’s got a class.

“Just to let you know that we’ve had a delivery of these,” the chef said, while brandishing a copy of his new cookbook.

“My brand new book, Butter, the publishers are really excited, we’ve had, actually, more people phone up for interviews for this book than any book I’ve ever written.

“Which says a lot, doesn’t it really?” James grinned, before continuing, “in a world where people apparently don’t eat butter”.

The celebrity chef went on: “But give me a shout, we’re going to launch it this weekend,” he explained, before signing off.

Panning back to the garden, James summarised: “But hi from me before a busy lunch service and enjoy the book.”

The chef’s new project has no doubt been a labour of love as at the end of August, James took to Instagram to apologise for his absence on social media after he was inundated with messages about his new book.

Appearing in his famous kitchen, James greeted his 647,000 followers in a two minute clip.

Sharing his gratitude for the support he has received, James took to the comments and wrote: “Wow thanks for all your messages… sorry not been posting manic busy and 20 hours a day at the mo…”(sic)

Following the announcement of his new cookbook, James was met with a torrent of support from fans, who were eager to get their hands on the dairy-based cookbook.

@NikkiJB66 commented: “Sounds like my kind of recipes!”

While @Jenna-Lea added: “Wow I’m super excited, I adore butter!!You make me laugh when you say ‘add a LITTLE butter… ‘ then half a tub goes in!” (sic)

However, other social media users were not as enamoured with the book’s namesake as others.

@Wigangolfer wrote: “Can you do recipes for those of us who hate butter? #please”.

Twitter user @chezdon1997 accused the celebrity chef of ignoring the weight gain risks of consuming lots of butter with his new cookbook, commenting: “getting fat is not on.”

James Martin’s Saturday Morning is on at 9.30am on Saturday on ITV.
