Little Mix ‘to take on Simon Cowell’s The X Factor with rival talent show’

Girl band sensation Little Mix are reportedly taking on their ex record label boss Simon Cowell, 60, by launching their own BBC1 Saturday night talent show that will rival ITV’s The X Factor.

It's claimed that the pop group, who won the 2011 series of the famed contest, are starting a show that will aim to discover the next star band.

Perrie Edwards, 26, Jesy Nelson, 28, Leigh-Anne Pinnock, 28, and Jade Thirlwall, 26, split with Simon’s label Syco last year in a move that was shrouded with controversy.

Speaking to The Sun at the time, Simon revealed that it wasn’t the band he fell out with, but their management company, Modest Management.

He said that Little Mix were the "hardest working bunch of girls I've ever worked with", but that the “we can’t work with the management, it's as simple as that.”

A telly source told The Sun of the show: “This show is huge for Little Mix but it will be a massive blow for Simon. The X Factor’s viewing figures have fallen for years but this could be the nail in the coffin.

“Saturday night needs a new singing competition to freshen it up and, with Little Mix involved, this could well be it.”

The insider then went on to add: “The girls will be mentoring youngsters. They’re hoping their experience will mean they can create a group which can forge a genuine career.
