Love Island’s Maura finally explains ‘unimpressed’ reaction to Amber and Greg’s win before admitting she thinks Molly-Mae and Tommy SHOULD have taken the crown – EXCLUSIVE

Love Island star Maura Higgins has finally explained why she appeared to look baffled at Amber Gill and Greg O’Shea’s win on Monday night’s finale.

The Irish beauty was seen pulling a face after the pair won the £50,000 prize money as she stood with Curtis, Ovie and India.

Appearing stunned, Maura clapped before looking up at Ovie as she made a baffled expression. It didn’t go unnoticed on social media, with fans taking to Twitter to comment on Maura’s seemingly reaction to the announcement.

Speaking exclusively to OK! online after the episode aired, Maura admits the reason she looked so sour was that of pure shock – adding that she thinks runners-up Molly-Mae Hague and Tommy Fury should have been the ones to take the crown.

“You know what, I’m not going to lie – I was shocked," she said.

“Obviously I love Greg and Amber to bits, but I mean, it’s Love Island. Molly and Tommy have found love, it’s genuine love, and I was without a doubt shocked. I thought they had it in the bag.”

When asked if she thought they should have won, Maura responded: “Yes. It is Love Island, and they have found love.”

Molly-Mae recently came under fire from viewers, who questioned her relationship with the boxer and branded her as "fake".

But fiercely loyal Maura added: “I don’t have a clue why – Molly-Mae is the most genuine girl I’ve ever met in my life. She is without a doubt besotted by Tommy, and they’re the perfect couple.”

However, winner Amber Gill thought Maura’s expression was for another reason.

In an interview with OK! online and others, Amber spoke of the moment, adding: “Maura’s expression was due to the fact that Ovie was overwhelmingly happy and was screaming and shouting.

“I think she probably got a shock from his reaction because he was being so loud.

“I think that everybody was sort of surprised that it was us, even we were surprised, so I wouldn’t be mad at Maura if she’d have been surprised because we couldn’t believe it either.”
