Meghan Markle’s best friend Misha Nonoo details daughter’s difficult premature birth

Meghan Markle's friend and confidante Misha Nonoo has revealed she gave birth to her baby daughter a few months ago.

The fashion designer, who supported Meghan, 40, when she created her own fashion collection Smart Works in 2019, opened up on the struggles she faced as her newborn tot Marina was born premature.

Sharing the news in an Instagram series, the star explained her little girl was forced to have a "number of surgeries" as doctors fought to keep her alive in the neonatal intensive care unit.

The Duchess of Sussex's friend uploaded a number of shots detailing her baby's condition and the difficulties she had to endure.

The 36 year old also told her followers she wanted to be open about her "own vulnerabilities" in a bid to give other mothers some support and relief over their own anxieties.

Misha began: "It's been a little while since you've heard from me. I wanted to wait until Marina was in a good place to share our story.

"Thank you to all the incredible doctors and nurses that helped make all our wishes come true, we are so grateful for everything you have done for our family."

The New York-based fashion guru went on to reveal she was out of the city when she unexpectedly went into labour.

"Earlier this year, I went into early labor with our baby daughter, Marina. She arrived whilst I was in another city, away from home and without any family around me," she continued.

"She was immediately rushed to the NICU and subsequently received a number of surgeries. I was unable to hold her for weeks."

Misha went on to thank all the medical professionals who helped her and her baby this year.

"The extraordinary care that she received whilst in the NICU has eternally indebted us to the incredible doctors and nurses that helped nurture our daughter back to health and I am personally humbled by these selfless professionals," she gushed.

The mum-of-two also told her followers she was revealing "Marina's story", and she wanted to give "hope" to any parents struggling with a similar situation.

She also praised her daughter for showing "fortitude, determination and resilience at such an early age" and said it "took her breath away".

"Having a child that is sick or requires serious medical attention is one of the hardest things one can go through as a parent. I am in awe of our daughter and the extraordinary spirit with which she was born.

"I have always looked to women for inspiration and courage in life and in recent moments when I have felt powerless, it was her strong spirit and light that has kept us marching forward. She is quite simply, a superhero," Misha added.

The designer also shares a son called Leo with her husband Mikey Hess.

The family celebrated Leo's first birthday in March, only a month before they announced Misha was pregnant with their second child.
