Former The Only Way Is Essex star Sam Faiers recently was criticised on Instagram for using a quote belonging to Anne Frank in her caption.

The star shared a snap of herself in her bedroom grinning widely, and captioned it writing: "What a wonderful thought it is that some of the best days of our lives haven’t even happened yet.

"Couldn't have set it better myself Anne Frank."

The mother of two then added two hashtags:“#staypositive #focusonthegood”

Owing to the fact that diarist Anne Frank has reached iconic status as as one of the most discussed young Jewish victims of the Holocaust, many took to the comments section to flag Sam’s caption as inappropriate.

One person commented: “Please take the time to educate yourself and remove this reference immediately."

Another added: "Why are you hash tagging Anne frank? I see no similarity at all in your situations.

“Totally distasteful and disrespectful."

While a third wrote: "Poor Anne died at just 15 in a concentration camp”.

However, it does seem the star used the backlash to educate herself on the topic and promptly deleted the caption, opting for a shooting star emoji instead.

Anne Frank wrote a diary for two years when she was in hiding in the Netherlands while it was under Nazi occupation.

Her diary was published posthumously under the title The Diary of a Young Girl and has since been translated into over 60 languages.
