Ruth Langsford addresses weight gain as she retries on wedding dress: ‘I feel fed up’

Ruth Langsford, 61, put her wedding dress on for the first time in eight years as she attempted to see if the stunning gown still fit her. However, the Loose Women host was disheartened to discover she could barely get the dress “over her hips” as she admitted feeling “fed up” amid her bid to tone up.

Ruth tonight appeared on Lose A Stone In Four Weeks For Summer where she explained to viewers how a good way to see if you are maintaining your weight is by retrying on your wedding dress.

Taking the gorgeous white gown out of its box, she said: “This is my wedding dress.

So Eamonn [Holmes] and I have been together for 22 years but we only got married eight years ago.

“They do say a good test of if you are maintaining your weight is can you get back into your wedding dress?

“I have to say looking at that, I’m not holding my breath. I will have to hold my breath… no chance.”

Ruth then went into her bathroom to slip the number on, however, she did struggle to get it on at first.

She said: “I don’t think it’s going to go over my hips…“

The 61-year-old then stepped out in the gown to show the cameras how it didn’t fit her nearly a decade after it was purchased.

She continued: “Well look who can still get into her wedding dress, not. Ah, look at that! Nowhere near!

“I can’t believe that because I thought I was a little bit overweight on my wedding day! I feel a bit fed up now,” Ruth admitted.

Ruth and Eamonn tied the knot in 2010 after dating for 13 years.

They initially met in 1997 through a mutual friend and gave birth to their son Jack Alexander in 2002.

Ruth previously admitted to being a size 12 for most of her life.

However, her weight crept up when menopause hit her aged 50.

Unable to fit into her some of her favourite clothes, she had to trade up to a size 14 for a while.

Speaking to Woman Magazine in 2019, she said: “Eventually I went, ‘Ruth, just admit it, you’re now a size 14′.

“And I was fine with that. And now everything that is a 14 is tight.”

Nowadays, the TV star simply follows a balanced diet.

Ruth regularly prepares her meals ahead of work, which ranges from hard-boiled eggs, ham, tomatoes, avocado, salads and juices.

She also shares her meals on social media, including her weekly Sunday roasts.

Furthermore, she has also started running in a bid to keep fit.

Sharing her progress on Instagram, Ruth said: “Well that was a surprise… I’d psyched myself up to do another 20 mins or something but it went back to interval running???

“Is that about increasing stamina or something? I found it hard! Anyway… did it so Week 6 Run 1.” (sic)
