Scarlett Moffatt has revealed how she got her job on Gogglebox – admitting she originally auditioned as a favour to a friend.
Speaking to former TOWIE star Jess Wright on her podcast Girls No Filter, Scarlett confessed she wasn’t impressed by the concept of the show at first.
Opening up about the programme that shot her to fame, she said: “That was a favour to a friend. So it was never the plan to be on tele but my friend Tommy rang us and was like, ‘Oh, I’ve got this new job as a researcher.’
“I thought he meant as a scientist. I was like, ‘Oh, what are you researching?’ He was like, ‘No it’s a TV term I’m sort of trying to cast this show. I was like, ‘Right, what’s the show?’ He was like, ‘You watch the telly… that’s it.’
“I went, ‘Bloody hell! They’ll make programmes about anything these days! People watching the tele.’ So I rang all my friends to see if I could find anyone who would audition for this show and literally everyone was like, ‘It sounds sh*te.’ So trying to be nice I was like, ‘We’ll audition for you but we don’t actually want to be on the show.’ He was like, ‘No, no it’s just a favour.’”
Scarlett, who celebrated her 30th birthday last week, went on to explain that she and her family were offered the job the next day.
She continued: “The next day, they were like, ‘We want you on the show.’ And so it was a really quick turnaround.

Since leaving Gogglebox in 2016, Scarlett has gone on to pursue a career in presenting.
She previously revealed she ‘didn’t really’ find it difficult to move on. When quizzed on whether it was hard to leave the series, she told Express: “Not really because we still do it, it’s just no one’s filming it.
“So when I get asked if I miss it, we still all watch telly together.”
