Kelsey explained that they don’t understand her and therefore don’t know what to say but that she wants others to know that ‘there is more to me than Tom being dead.’

Speaking to The Times, Kelsey said: ‘They feel awkward around me; they cross the street to avoid me. They don’t know what to say. I want to say, “There is more to me than Tom being dead”.

She went on: ‘Friends find it hard to relate to, because until you’ve done everything I’ve done over the past three years, you can’t really understand my life. Because it’s been so tough.

‘They’ll hate me for saying it, but the majority of the men in my family would rather have their heads buried in a hole in the garden than talk about it. But death is the one thing guaranteed to happen to us. It’s almost as if we’re all scared to die.’

Kelsey went on to say that the hardest moments following Tom’s death, were the nights, after putting her two children Aurelia, 3, and Bodhi, 2, to bed.

It comes after Kelsey gushed over her pal Kate Ferdinand who has supported her through the aftermath of losing Tom.

Kate and her husband Rio Ferdinand, who have helped Kelsey cope in the aftermath of Tom’s death, appear in episode two of her new documentary.

Kelsey revealed: ‘Kate was a really great person to speak to. I was talking to her about how I want to get rid of our bed, but I said to her: “How are people going to look at me for that?” If I do want to move forward, I’ve got to take these steps.

‘Kate said, “you’ve just got to not worry what anyone else thinks. You are the only person that gets into that bed, so you need to do what’s right for you.”‘

Continuing with life after the heartbreaking time, MailOnline revealed last week that Kelsey is now in the early stages of a relationship with new man Sean Boggans.

Kelsey and Sean, a father-of-two, are believed to have met when she took a break with friends in Lindos, Rhodes, in September.

‘It’s very early days and no-one knows what the future will bring, but for now, Kelsey is happy that someone else has come into her life,’ said a source.

It was also revealed that electrician Sean was jailed in 2013 killing a stranger with a single punch while waiting for a taxi outside an east London.

He spent time behind bars after fatally punching Shaun McDermott, 44, during a heated argument over a taxi outside the Havering Oak pub in Romford.

Boggans was waiting for his then-girlfriend to collect him when an argument broke out with the 44-year-old, who was knocked to the ground during the skirmish. CCTV footage later captured the electrician walking away from the scene.

Elsewhere, Kelsey has created a new six-part series, Life After Tom, for ITVBe – showing how she and her two children navigate life following the singer’s death.

The show will feature unseen videos and memories of the couple, alongside following Kelsey as he navigates mourning while continuing motherhood.
