Best place in house to have sex according to doctor, and it’s not the bedroom

When it comes to sex, most couples save their intimate moments for the bedroom.

But according to one doctor they should make more effort to spice things up a bit and move to different rooms in the house.

Dr Shahzadi Harper, an expert in menopause and libido, claims the best place to have sex is the kitchen.

While it may not seem like the most hygienic setting, she says there's one huge benefit to getting down to it in the room.

Apparently the kitchen is much better when it comes to burning calories.

She told the Star : "The kitchen is the best room to have sex in, a kitchen table or a worktop is always a handy prop.

"I think also one of the positions that you think for a woman when you talk about calorie burning, which is quite good, I think would be a dining chair.

"Him sitting down and you’re sitting across straddling him. As a woman, you’re burning more calories in that position."

There has been much research done over the years into how many calories having sex can burn , with some saying a vigorous 30 minute session can burn as much as 150 calories, which is the equivalent of jogging for 15.

Sadly, though, anyone who believes that sex could be a better form of exercise than jogging is mistaken.

In a study  , a team from the University of Montreal compared the calories used running to that of sex and found that running was far better at burning them off.

Women burned an average of 213 calories during 30 minutes of jogging, while men burned 276.

However, during 30 minutes of sex men burned 101 calories and women 69, burning an average of 3.6 calories per minute.

Some sex positions are better than others for feeling that burn, and varying your positions is a great, fun way to tone different muscle groups and keep limbs lean and flexible.

The number of calories burned during sex varies widely from one session to another, so if the more sweaty and out of breath you get the more you'll be burning.
