Could This Be the New Record-Breaking Base Edition Charizard?
A rare Charizard Pokémon card is currently up for auction with bids already soaring at $160K USD. It was just two months ago when Logic set the record for purchasing the most expensive Pokémon card ever sold at an auction — $226K USD. Could the current card be the next record-setter?
With just 11 days left on the clock, bidders have been setting their offers on Goldin Auctions. The card is a 1999 Base first Edition #4 Charizard that’s been certified as a “Black Diamond” card by MBA (Mike Baker Authenticated) and graded as a 10 by SGC. It’s in the “best-imaginable state of condition” which “beckons the observer through magnetic visual qualities that challenge the adequacy of verbal description,” according to the auction house. The minimum bid was at $50K USD, but it has since quickly climbed up from five to six digits. The card is still anyone’s game for bidders looking to get their hands on the rare piece, but with over a week left until the auction’s close, there’s a high chance for the current bidding price to significantly increase.

In case you missed it, a sealed Pokémon Booster Box set an auction record of $360K USD last month.
