Meagan O’Halloran leaving FOX 31, Ashley Ryan takes her place

After five years on FOX 31’s morning show, Meagan O’Halloran is moving on. The anchor’s last show will be Friday as she heads for Sinclair’s new evening edition of “The National Desk.”

Replacing O’Halloran on KDVR’s morning show will be Ashley Ryan, who is moving here from Tulsa.

O’Halloran’s new show will debut Sept. 27, airing on 64 Sinclair stations in 60 markets from 10 p.m. until midnight ET and 7-9 p.m. PT. Eugene Ramirez will join her for a newscast that will also air on free streaming platforms.

“We are thrilled Meagan and Eugene, acclaimed journalists with proven track records of making a difference in their local communities, will be leading the newscast as we expand our reach and content across additional dayparts,” said Mike Garber, director of content for The National Desk said in a news release.”

O’Halloran became a staple of the Denver morning TV scene in her time, covering some of Colorado’s biggest stories.

“It’s been an incredible run; I think we’ve created something so special and unique here at FOX 31,” she said. “As I reflect on my time here, I will be taking so many great memories with me. I’ve had the privilege to work with so many talented anchors, reporters, producers, production staff, engineers, sales reps, and management — and I got to wake up with our viewers each morning; it was such an honor.”

A graduate of Columbia College in Chicago, Ryan has worked in markets around the country, spending her last three-plus years in Oklahoma.

“I am beyond excited to return to my roots of morning news and to wake up with the FOX31 Denver team. I’m so grateful for this incredible opportunity to serve the Denver community alongside Kirk (Yuhnke), Kylie (Bearse) and Emily (Allen) every morning, and my family is eager to explore everything the beautiful city and Rocky Mountains have to offer,” Ryan said in a news release.

Ryan will begin teaming with longtime anchor Kirk Yuhnke from 4:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. weekday mornings on Aug. 16.

O’Halloran will be moving to the Washington, D.C. area for her new job.
