Michelle Griego returns to CBS4 Denver as morning news anchor.
Michelle Griego is returning to CBS4 Denver as a morning news anchor starting on Monday, the station announced in a news release.
Griego will host CBS4’s morning news, along with co-anchor Dominic Garcia, weekdays from 4:30 a.m. to 7 a.m., the station said. Griego starts on Monday.
“We are very excited to welcome Michelle back to the station,” CBS4 News Director Tim Wieland said. “Michelle is a CBS4 success story. She first joined our newsroom in 2005 as a web producer. Two years later, she began reporting on the morning news. She was named weekend morning anchor in 2010, and later anchor of a new 4 p.m. newscast.”
Since 2012, Griego was a weekday morning anchor at KPIX-TV — CBS San Francisco. Griego grew up in Denver and attended George Washington High School, Colorado State University and Metropolitan State University of Denver.
Garcia, a Colorado native, attended Thomas Jefferson High School and Colorado State University, where he majored in Communications.
“As a station we focus on covering Colorado first,” Wieland added. “It’s important to us that our reporters know our communities well and we feel fortunate to have so many great anchors and reporters who grew up in beautiful Colorado.“
Justin Adams joins CBS4 This Morning full-time and will now anchor sports segments, the release said. Mekialaya White will now anchor CBS4 This Morning on weekends and Kelly Werthmann will anchor CBS4 news every Saturday and Sunday night at 5 p.m. and10 p.m.
