Adele’s former husband Simon Konecki has claimed up to £305,000 in furlough for his trendy mineral water company – despite his multi million divorce settlement with the megastar.

Old Etonian Simon, 47, whose contemporaries include Bear Grylls and Camilla Parker Bowles’s son, Tom, was a city high flier before setting up the Brighton-based eco friendly water brand Life Water, the packaging firm Factory 21, and the charity Drop4Drop.

Konecki claimed the money for three connected firms between December and July this year. Life UK got up to £25,000 a month for five months and then £10,000 in May and June, while Drop4Drop and Factory 21 were each given up to £10,000 a month until July – as much as £160,000 in total.

Earlier this year it was revealed that Adele and Konecki, who split in 2019, had reached a settlement in their divorce and had employed mediators to help determine how their £140 million fortune should be split.

Details of the payments are revealed in just updated lists of companies benefitting from the furlough scheme, intended to bail out struggling businesses forced to shut in the lockdowns.

Life Water boasts it is a ‘British water brand with a conscience’ and says it was voted best sustainable beverage brand in 2020.

The cans cost at least 75p for still and mineral if bought from the firm in crates of 24, but more in restaurants and cafes.

It says clients include the Brit Awards, Glastonbury, the Mercury Prize, London Fashion Week and showbiz hangout Soho House.

At 17 Simon had started his first job, as a trainee foreign exchange broker. He later recalled how he wore a pin-striped suit with red braces to the interview (‘inspired by the film Wall Street’).

When he worked in the City, his nickname was Swampy thanks to his ‘long hair and Leftie views’. (Swampy was an environmental activist briefly famous during the Nineties.)

Seven years later, he started running teams of senior brokers at Lehman Brothers.

In 2005, disillusioned with banking, Simon left the City behind before setting up his canned water brand.

Not too far to go… It was revealed in May 2019, that Adele had splashed out on a £8.53million Beverly Hills home just feet away from her estranged husband Simon’s pad, proving how committed they are to co-parenting son Angelo, eight

Simon began dating Adele in 2012, after being introduced by mutual friend Ed Sheeran, with rumours circulating that their relationship began before the end of his first marriage to stylist Clary Fisher. The two welcomed a child, Angelo, in October that year.

Adele and Simon married in 2018, but the relationship quickly soured and they separated in 2019- at the time, friends insisted the split wouldn’t turn nasty.

In 2018, she signed over a house in LA’s Van Nuys district to Simon. The suburban house is worth £488,000.

Meanwhile it was revealed in May 2019, that Adele had splashed out on a £8.53million Beverly Hills home just feet away from her Simon’s pad in order that they can co-parent their son.
