Ben Affleck is Jennifer Lopez’s ‘true love,’ according to singer’s mom
Ben Affleck has earned the stamp of approval from Jennifer Lopez’s mom, Guadalupe “Lupe” Rodríguez.
“I knew they would get back together. I knew that they were in love,” Sunny Hostin said while talking about the reignited pair’s Las Vegas nuptials on the July 18 episode of “The View.”
“I’ve spoken to her mother, Lupe, about it. Lupe has always said that Ben is her true love.”
Hostin, 53, continued on, telling her co-hosts that she’s confident the love between Lopez, 52, and Affleck, 49, is “gonna last forever.”
“They’re gonna live happily ever after, and that’s why she took his last name and she loves him,” she gushed.
“And that is it. This is it for her. She should have married him the first time.”
Page Six obtained Lopez and Affleck’s marriage license, which was filed on July 16. The “Hustlers” actress later confirmed the marriage herself in the July 17 edition of her “On The JLo” newsletter.
Lopez also legally changed her name to “Jennifer Affleck” after the surprise wedding to the “Gone Girl” actor. She signed off as “Mrs. Jennifer Lynn Affleck” in her newsletter where she shared details about the wedding.
“We did it. Love is beautiful. Love is kind. And it turns out love is patient. Twenty years patient,” the “Marry Me” star wrote in the letter to her fans.
“We barely made it to the little white wedding chapel by midnight,” she continued. “They graciously stayed open late a few minutes, let us take pictures in a pink Cadillac convertible, evidently once used by the king himself (but if we wanted Elvis himself to show, that cost extra and he was in bed).”
Lopez and Affleck met in 2001 on the set of “Gigli” while the “Dance Again” singer was still married to her second husband, Cris Judd. They got engaged a year later but called it off in 2004.
After they both got married and had children of their own – to Marc Anthony and Jennifer Garner, respectively – they sent fans into a frenzy when they reunited in April 2021. They became engaged for a second time in April 2022.
