Emmys 2022: Nominations List (Updating Live)

J.B. Smoove (“Curb Your Enthusiasm”) and Melissa Fumero (“Brooklyn Nine-Nine”) announced the 2022 Emmy nominations Tuesday morning, along with Television Academy chairman and CEO Frank Scherma in a virtual event.

“Ted Lasso,” “Barry,” “Hacks,” “Only Murders in the Building” and “Abbott Elementary” are expected to be major contenders in the comedy race, while “Succession,” “Squid Game,” “Ozark,” “Yellowjackets,” “Severance” and “Stranger Things” should heat up the drama categories. For limited series, “The White Lotus,” “The Dropout,” “Dopesick” and “Maid” are some of the frontrunners.

This year’s awards ceremony honors shows that premiered between June 1, 2021, and May 31, 2022, which means popular recent releases like “The Boys,” “The Bear,” “Westworld,” “The Old Man” and “The Umbrella Academy” won’t be eligible. There’s also been a major rule change this year, with shows being divided between comedy and drama categories based on how producers submit them. Since 2015, shows were classified by their runtimes, with half-hour shows automatically being deemed comedies and hourlong programs going to the drama race.

This year’s Primetime Emmy Awards will be held Sept. 12 at 5 p.m. PT/ 8 p.m. ET on NBC. The awards show will stream live on Peacock for the first time. The Creative Arts Emmy winners, recognizing artistic and technical achievements in television, will be presented Sept. 3 and Sept. 4, with the ceremonies being broadcast by FXX on Sept. 10.
