We all love a bit of British sunshine, but it’s all fun and games until your makeup starts sliding off your face quicker than you can say "pass me another rocket lolly". So right now you probably want to know how to make your makeup last longer in the heat.
As temperatures continue to soar across the UK, top makeup artist Adeola Gboyega, who has worked for top brands like Pat McGrath Labs and Bobbi Brown, has shared some of her go-to heatwave beauty hacks to help keep your base in place.
From thebest setting sprays to her go-to face powder, here are her top tips "to keep you looking sweet in the heat" (direct quote).
Primer is an essential for makeup longevity and, if you have skin that often resembles an oil slick come lunchtime, a grippy one is a must in the heatwave. "I’m absolutely obsessed with Milk Makeup Hydro Grip Primer (from £14.50 here), it’s incredible," Adeola says.
Be selective with your foundation
Our makeup artist also recommends using an oil-free foundation when temperatures skyrocket. "Estée Lauder Double Wear Foundation (£34 here) needs no introduction," she says. "It’s incredible, guys." This particular foundation now comes in a whopping 60 different shades, so you’re pretty much guaranteed to find your perfect colour match.
(Don’t) put down the powder
Many makeup users are still face powder phobes, but a finely milled one is an essential part of setting a long-wear look without looking cakey. Adeola recommends options by Chanel Beauty or Charlotte Tilbury (£35 here), especially when wearing a mask, and reminds viewers that powder blush also counts.
Grab your setting spray
Last but not least, our MUA confirms that a setting spray is an absolute must to lock the whole thing in place (followed by a portable fan when you’re on the go). She uses a big dose of the Continuous Setting Mist by Morphe, £16 here.
WIth all these super tips at your disposal your makeup will probably last longer than the Great British summer. Now, about that rocket lolly…
