Investor snaps up £640,000 studio flat in London without EVER stepping foot inside after viewing a show apartment remotely during lockdown – and says it’s so convenient he’d do it even as restrictions lift

An investor revealed how he bought a £640,000 home in London without ever stepping foot inside. 

Mohammed Sharjeel Bhatti, 45, a property investor based in the UK, snapped up the stylish studio flat in Shoreditch after viewing a show home remotely during lockdown. 

The stunning studio flat is part of east London development The Stage, which will boast stylish apartments, luxury retailers and modern dining options once completed. 

Developer Galliard Homes was among the companies that introduced virtual viewings while lockdown restrictions prohibited in-person house tours. The agent also takes part, guiding the tour and answering any questions.

Virtual viewings operate either as ‘live’ tours, when the agent or current owner physically walks around the property while filming with a phone or tablet, as the buyer watches at home, or as guided 360-degree virtual tours through programmes like Reevo 360, which was used by Galliard.

The approach was widely adopted across the property industry during lockdown but Mr Bhatti told FEMAIL he believed the ‘hassle-free’ virtual viewings should continue to be used even now restrictions are easing.   

He said: ‘The team [at developer Galliard Homes] shared a secure link with me via email, and I was able to connect screens with the sales agent and talk through the show apartments.

‘I found the tours very helpful, detailed and most importantly very easy to use – that was impressive! It was great to speak to the agent at the same time to ask questions.

‘I think the technology will remain very useful after lockdown, as it allows you to view the show apartment without needing to leave your home or office, which is ideal for our busy lives.’
