McDonald’s lover shares DIY hack to turn plastic cup into hair buns
A beauty influencer has upcycled a McDonald's product to achieve an impeccable top-bun look.
Quinty Mirjam, from the Netherlands, transformed a plastic lid taken from the fast food chain restaurant to a hair bun shaper.
She posted the tutorial clip on her TikTok account, @quintymirjam, to show fans how she achieved the perfect poofy bun within minutes.
In the clip, the DIY fan cleans the clear dome-shaped lid, which you can usually get when you buy an iced coffee.
Next she ties her hair in a classic half-up half-down style and uses an extra hair band to pull the hair through the lid before tightening it.
The trick is to create a "round bun" look so Quinty carefully covers the lid with her hair to make sure no gap can be seen.
She places another hairband around and covers it with the extra hair strands from the bun and secures it with a few bobby pins.
With a final spray of hairspray, the look is completed.
The clip has racked up more than 420,000 views since she posted it online.
In response to one viewer's question of how she came up with the idea, Quinty said: "I don't know what my brain is doing."
The trick seems to be easy to follow but some suggested it cost less to just buy a "donut bun" tool.
One said: "A donut bun is no more expensive than €2."
Another wrote: "No, just no."
But some were intrigued to try out and praised Quinty for her creativity.
A woman commented: "Love your idea for this. It looks fun to make it."
"This is how you achieve the Ariana Grande look!" a second added.
