Ariana Grande Transforms into a Fembot in Her “34+35” Music Video

Ariana Grande’s innuendo-filled single “34+35” now has a music video. The pop star just debuted the visuals, helmed by Director X, today, and although the narrative has nothing to do with the exact meaning of the NSFW lyrics, it’s a glossy, high-quality production nonetheless.

First, Grande and her dancers appear as a group of scientists in a vintage-style control room, running tests on a robot clone of the singer. After a few trial runs, their experiment finally comes to life, but it turns everyone in the lab into an Austin Powers–style fembot. Cue the ’60s-style bouffant hairdos, marabou-lined babydoll dresses, and arm-length gloves.

Grande had just teased the video premiere two days ago on social media, but “34+35” (which adds up to “69” if you need to read between the lines) debuted on October 30 as a track on her latest album, positions. Much like the title, the lyrics are brimming with descriptions of desire and sexual expression. Just take the bridge, with lines like, “Baby, you might need a seatbelt when I ride it / I’ma leave it open like a door, come inside it / Even though I’m wife you can hit it like a side chick.”

This new video arrives weeks after Grande’s White House–set “positions” visuals, which arrived just before the presidential election. The album positions, which Grande announced by surprise just last month, follows her recent LPs thank you, next and Sweetener.
