Love Islands Wes Nelson returned money as influencer life made him depressed

Love Island star Wes Nelson has revealed he returned several eye-watering paycheck’s after influencer life was “making him depressed.”

The 24-year-old, says he received some “affluent” opportunities from major brand to promote them on social media, but decided to abandon the deals and return the money after it began to affect his mental health.

He said: “I’m terrible with social media… I tried[influencing] at the start. I had a couple deals and they were quite affluent and obviously you look at it and you think okay that’s a lot of money.

“So I tried it and then I was just falling miles behind on posts because I wasn’t posting on time.

"There’s a lot of big contracts that I just gave all the money back and just said I’m not doing them anymore.”

He went on to say that the industry is very fake and he wanted no part of it.

“[Influencing] was actually making me quite depressed. Like, real depressed. Really anxious all the time. The whole thing is very very fake. I don’t want to be a part of that.”

However, the star clearly isn’t against backing his own brands, with the star venturing into a new hustle with his own booze brand.

He appeared on ITV dating show in 2018, launched a booming music career and has now started his own multi-million-pound alcohol brand.

He shared the exciting news with the Daily Star about the launch, telling us: "I'd been approached by a lot of companies in the past to collaborate with them, and being honest the commercial side of things had been on the back burner for me for the past few years since I've been doing music.

"Now I want to move forward with things like that. And I thought, if I want to do something then I want to do it on my own and launch something by myself.

"It's an amazing product that is super low in calories and it will still get you drunk, so, what can I say?"

The platinum-selling recording artist – who became a millionaire by the age of 21 after investing his Love Island money wisely – confessed he wanted to look into alcohol brands after spending so much time out and about with his busy schedule.
