Olivia Newton-Johns husband John Easterling pays touching tribute to late wife

Grease star Dame Olivia Newton-John's husband John Easterling has paid tribute to his late wife who died earlier this week.

Olivia passed away aged 73 after her battle with cancer and was surrounded by her family and friends in Southern California.

Using Olivia's Instagram account her husband John wrote a heartfelt message on Wednesday (August 10).

He said: "Our love for each other transcends our understanding. Every day we expressed our gratitude for this love that could be so deep, so real, so natural.

"We never had to ‘work’ on it. We were in awe of this great mystery and accepted the experience of our love as past, present and forever."

Olivia's own final Instagram post before her sad death was also a snap of her and her doting husband.

On Monday her account posted a picture of her and John and wrote: "#flashbackfriday."

Fans of hers flew to the comments, with one saying: "Think of you Olivia. Send you love and light from south of France."

A second said: "Beautiful photo! I’m sending you wishes for continued good health. I’m keeping you in my prayers. Love and light."

While a third posted: "You two make the perfect couple."

"I've been tossing in my sleep worrying about you. I'm keeping you in my daily prayers. Before my +husband passed, we were my favourite couple. Today, you and John are my favourite couple. Love & Light for you both," a fourth shared.

A fifth typed: "Hi Olivia, there is nothing more beautiful than seeing you smile and enjoy nature, in the company of your beloved… Greetings from Melbourne."

"Love u both so much! Olivia my idol always and forever more!!!!" shared another user.

Another commented: "Simply Beautiful! This represents what LOVE is all about."

The star's death was officially confirmed on the star's Facebook page by her family.

Her Grease co-star John Travolta has also shared his own touching tribute to his onscreen love.

The 68-year-old actor wrote on Instagram: "My dearest Olivia, you made all of our lives so much better.

"Your impact was incredible. I love you so much. We will see you down the road and we will all be together again. Yours from the moment I saw you and forever!

"Your Danny, your John!"
