The Fugees Pause Reunion Tour

Lauryn Hill and bandmates Pras Michel and Wyclef Jean have put their anniversary reunion tour on hold and are expected to resume the jaunt early next year.

AceShowbizThe Fugees have hit the pause button on their reunion tour so the trio can make sure venues will be open to fans when they get there.

The band launched The Score anniversary reunion tour last month (Sep21) with a show on The Rooftop at Pier 17 in New York City, and lined up gigs in the U.S., U.K. and Africa.

The concerts were due to start next month (Nov21) in Chicago, Illinois, but Lauryn Hill, Pras Michel, and Wyclef Jean have postponed them to 2022 to ensure “the best chance that all cities on the tour will be fully open.”

Since announcing the dates, some of the cities have been hit by COVID-related restrictions.

“Dates for our upcoming Fugees 25th Anniversary Tour are moving to early 2022 to ensure the best chance that all cities on the tour will be fully open so we can perform for as many fans as possible,” a band statement reads.

“With so much excitement around the reunion tour, we are also happy to announce that we will be adding more cities and dates! Full details coming soon along with some SPECIAL announcements!”

The rescheduled dates have not been revealed.

The delay will allow Pras more time to get his affairs in order – earlier this month (Oct21), it was reported the international tour dates could be in jeopardy as he fights to get his passport back from U.S. Department of Justice officials. The musician, real name Prakazrel Michel, is under criminal indictment from the U.S. Justice Department as part of a long-running probe into an alleged political influence campaign, involving a Chinese investment company.

Pras’ lawyer, David Kenner, confirmed to Billboard that his client’s passport has been handed over to the authorities as a result of the case, and he is currently working to get it back, so the musician can travel outside the U.S. on the reunion tour.

“It’s certainly something they were aware of and I don’t think they ever seriously thought that it would be an impediment,” Kenner told the outlet.
