Coronation Street’s David and the Platts homeless as giant hole destroys house
Things are set to get a whole lot worse for Coronation Street 's Platt family, despite already going through marriage troubles, memory loss and the pandemic.
Coronation Street spoilers for next week reveal that David (Jack P Shepherd) and his family are his by disaster when a huge sinkhole opens up in the garden of No8.
Things start off difficult earlier in the week too, as, suffering from memory loss, Shona (Julia Goulding) spends the day with David at the salon but causes problems with customers.
David bites his tongue, trying his hardest to try and get back to normal with his wife who remembers nothing of their life together.
He leaves her in Victoria Garden with Lily while he goes to buy some ice lollies for the kids, but things soon take a dangerous turn.
Afterwards, David asks Roy Cropper (David Nielsen) to collect Shona's things and he confides in his sister Sarah (Tina O'Brian) that he's worried things will never go back to how they were.
Sarah tells him that she will try to help.
Later on, David discovers from Nina (Mollie Gallagher) that Shona is planning on leaving the street as she believes he hates her.
He decides to arrange a barbecue to try and persuade her to stay.
Shona, Nina, David, Sarah, Sally (Sally Dynevor) and Lily all gather together for the barbecue.
But disaster strikes when there's a huge crash in the garden and an enormous crater appears in the middle of the lawn.
Everyone gazes into the hole completely stunned.
Colin, the engineer from the water company, takes a look at the sinkhole and breaks some devastating news to David.
Because of the sinkhole, he tells him the house is unstable, so he'll have to go and find somewhere else to live.
Shona is excited when Ray offers to put them all up in one of his hotels – but will things be happy families away from No8?
Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays on ITV
