Dancing on Ice’s Denise Van Outen appears on show after being rushed to hospital
Denise Van Outen has made her first appearance on Dancing On Ice 2021 after being sent to hospital with a severe injury.
On Saturday, it was announced that Denise, 46, had been rushed to A&E after falling face first during rehearsals with her professional skating partner, Matt Evers.
The actor and singer said that she was informed she had suffered ‘partial dislocation and tendon damage’ to her left shoulder.
While she said that she and Matt, 44, had made adjustments to their routine to make allowances for her shoulder, it wasn’t confirmed whether or not the pair would definitely be able to skate in the Dancing on Ice launch show.
But fortunately for Denise, she has made it on the show.
For their first routine, she and Matt brought the energy with an upbeat routine to Tina Turner’s Proud Mary, Denise sparkling in a gold, fringed outfit.
While Denise struggled to get up from the ice at the end of the routine, Matt helped her to her feet as she beamed.
For the first performance, Denise and Matt were awarded 19.5 out of a possible 40.
When asked by hosts Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby about her bandaged shoulder, Denise said: ‘Its really sore, but because of the adrenaline I can’t feel it.’
She also jokingly shared her concern about not shaving her armpits for days.
After the news emerged of Denise being treated in hospital for her shoulder, she shared pictures on Instagram that showed the aftermath of her fall.
In one picture, she could be seen inhaling gas and air as doctors put her dislocated shoulder back in place.
‘Told you I’m clumsy on the ice!’ she wrote on Instagram.
Denise expressed her thanks to Matt ‘for being a true friend and taking care of me and making me laugh when I feel like crying’.
Dancing on Ice returns next Sunday at 6pm on ITV and will be available to watch on ITV Player.
