Death in Paradise will be marking its 10th anniversary next year with DI Neville Parker (played by Ralf Little) enjoying his first full season after DI Jack Mooney’s (Ardal O’Hanlon) departure. Neville will continue to get to grips with his new life on the island of Saint Marie with help from his colleagues and friends at Honoré Police station. He will also be meeting some unfamiliar faces in series 10 who are going to bring back memories for viewers at home.

WARNING: This article contains spoilers from Death in Paradise.

Earlier this year, the creators of Death in Paradise revealed DS Florence Cassell (Joséphine Jobert) would be back in season 10.

Florence left after her fiancé Patrice Campbell (Leemore Marrett Jr) was murdered during an investigation but she is going to be returning when Death in Paradise is next on our screens.

She will be working alongside Neville, whom she could end up having a romantic connection with as teased by the BBC which said “sparks could fly”.

Actress Jobert won’t be the only previous cast member to be making a comeback in season 10 either.

DS Camille Bordey (Sara Martins) will be featured in a two-part special in DIP series 10.

While her return won’t be full-time, actress Martins is going to enjoy her time in the sun again to celebrate the show’s anniversary.

Executive Producer Tim Key said: “When we were planning our 10th series, we knew we wanted to treat the audience to some massive surprises, and welcoming Sara back to the show after six years is one of the best.

“It’s a joy working with her again and we can’t wait for the audience to see what’s in store for Camille.”

Will DI Richard Poole make cameo appearance in Death in Paradise season 10?

Actor Ben Miller portrayed the drama’s first-ever detective DI Richard Poole who helped to make DIP into the success it is today.

He worked alongside Camille during the first three seasons and so her return could open the door for DI Poole to crop up as well.

Sadly, as fans already know though, the detective was murdered at the beginning of series three with an ice pick during a reunion with some old friends from university.

Nevertheless, this doesn’t mean DI Poole couldn’t make a cameo appearance in the new episodes of Death in Paradise.

Shows often take the creative route when they want to bring back an actor, even for a few brief scenes.

So while Miller’s character is dead, he could show up in series 10 in a flashback as Camille reminisces about her time working on the island.

Another option could be to have DI Poole as a ghost, watching over Camille or Commissioner Selwyn Patterson (Don Warrington), the only other person who he knew from his time on the show.

Executive Producer Key has also hinted at the fact there is more casting news to announce.

While talking about Camille’s return, Key said: “Seeing her [Martins] filming on the beach in Guadeloupe was one of my favourite moments this series, and the really cool thing is that there are still more surprises to come!”

Could Key be teasing DI Poole’s return to Death in Paradise in season 10?

More news about the series is expected to be announced over the next couple of months, prior to the drama airing in January.

Death in Paradise is available to watch on BBC iPlayer.
