EastEnders fans baffled as Tamwar actor appears in Netflixs Dont Look Up
BBC Eastenders' Tamwar Masood, played by actor Himesh Patel from 2007 to 2016, has recently appeared in Netflix's climate satire film Don't Look Up.
Fans of Eastenders were shocked to see the character of Tamwar star as Jennifer Lawrence's boyfriend in the two-hour long end-of-the-world film.
Himesh, 31, also appeared in scenes with Leonardo Dicaprio, who played an anxiety-ridden climate scientist Dr Mindy.
Himesh's Don't Look Up character plays a journalist looking for a scoop. He goes on to write a blasting opinion piece on his girlfriend, played by Jennifer Lawrence, to which she has a fitting meltdown, given the end-of-the-world circumstances.
Fans reacted on Twitter as they watched the Netflix film that was released on Christmas Eve, with some immediately spotting EastEnders favourite Tamwar.
One fan said: "Watching Don’t Look Up and I’m struggling to process that this is Tamwar from EastEnders."
Another wrote: "Watching @dontlookupfilm and fair play to Tamwar from EastEnders (@HimeshJPatel). Hanging with DiCaprio and Jennifer Lawrence, and then some."
One viewer said: "Tamwar from EastEnders in Don’t Look Up. I really love seeing Brits in Hollywood."
Some fans could not get enough of Hamish's appearance in the Netflix film.
One fan said: "don’t look up didn’t feature enough of Tamwar from EastEnders."
Another wrote: "the guy that plays the old Tamwar in EastEnders is in that don’t look up movie and it’s the only thing i enjoyed about the movie. The fact that he was in it."
Hamish has also said that he still pinches himself for being in a movie with these people.
Speaking to W Magazine, he recently said: "… Or Meryl Streep, or Mark Rylance, or Leonardo DiCaprio, Jennifer Lawrence, Jonah Hill, the list goes on.
"I'm still pinching myself that I'm in a movie with these people."
Tamwar had left the area in Eastenders to go travelling with his girlfriend Nancy Carter, later settling down in New Zealand – although it was revealed their romance had ended when Nancy returned to Albert Square solo.
Meanwhile, the actor Himesh also moved by relocating from London to Los Angeles after his time on EastEnders to further his acting career.
Himesh has also starred in a lead role – for the Danny Boyle film Yesterday alongside Ed Sheeran. He also played a part in dystopic action film Tenet with John David Washington and Twilight's Robert Pattinson.
