Emmerdale fans work out Al Chapman death twist as new trailer teases the Woolpack fire

Emmerdale fans think they have "worked out" a chilling new twist on the ITV soap after it released its explosive Christmas trailer over the weekend.

During the clip, which also sees Manpreet Sharma confront her "dangerous" and "lying" sister Meena Jutla, it shows the devastating fire that will rip through the Woolpack pub in upcoming scenes.

The trailer sees a huge explosion at the venue shake the Emmerdale village before an unidentified body is seen lying under the rubble.

Taking to social media, soap fans predicted that it could be Al Chapman under the rubble and that he could die in a shock Christmas twist on the ITV soap, especially as the clip teased trouble for his character.

Soap fans will recall that Al invested in the Woolpack venue as part of a scheme to turn it into luxury apartments and only recently he was threatened by newcomer Gavin, who demanded to know why their plan was taking so long.

Taking to both Facebook and Twitter, viewers questioned whether Al could die in the fire as they wondered whether village murderer Meena, newcomer Gavin or even Cain Dingle, who is out for revenge, could be responsible.

One person said: "Does anyone else think Al dies, killed by Meena or in the fire?"

To which a different account replied: "I think he dies in the fire," with another viewer writing: "I think the fella he is in partnership with will burn it down with Al in it."

While another soap watcher speculated: "Cain kills Al in revenge."

Meanwhile, one fan tweeted: "That’s Al under all that rubble," with a different viewer begging the ITV soap: "Al? I like Al don’t kill him!"
