Emmerdale fans will know that Harriet (played by Katherine Dow Blyton) was in fact still pining for Will Taylor (Dean Andrews) ahead of his wedding to Kim Tate (Claire King) on the day of the fatal storm which left her dead. Official spoilers for the ITV soap reveal Dan (Liam Fox) will confide in Will about his doubts over the way Harriet truly felt about him, and the newlywed will be forced to lie to comfort the grieving man.
In scenes yet to air, Dan becomes emotional when Amelia Spencer (Daisy Campbell) makes a heartfelt speech in honour of Harriet.
Meanwhile, Laurel Thomas (Charlotte Bellamy) is shocked by Bernice Blackstock’s (Samantha Giles) callous attitude towards Dan.
A drunken Dan later worries about Harriet and how she felt about him.
However, Will comforts Dan with the lie that Harriet was very happy with him.
Viewers will be aware this wasn’t the case, with Harriet pleading for Will to leave Kim in the lead-up to their wedding.
Not long before, Harriet tried once again to convince her ex to take her back.
She arranged a private meeting with him and ranted about Kim.
Talking about Kim’s hostility towards her, she added: “She’s marking her territory, like the b**** she is.”
“Marking her territory?” Will asked, fuming, to which Harriet responded: “She knows I’m a threat, Will! She can smell it.”
“What, just because you’re my ex?” Will asked, leaving Harriet furious.
“Oh, that’s it, is it?” She questioned. “That’s all I am to you.”
Later, Harriet admitted she hadn’t stopped loving Will, explaining: “I guess that’s what 20 years of history does.”
“What do you want me to say?” Will asked his old flame, unsure of how to react.
“That you can’t marry her,” Harriet pressed, adding: “After all she’s done to Dawn!”
She argued: “We were so good together, and I know I destroyed all that, and everything that happened with Malone…”
“Should be left in the past,” Will cut in, to which Harriet shouted: “Pushed you into the arms of that monster!”
As Will got up to leave, Harriet insisted he wouldn’t be happy with Kim.
Eventually, Kim and Harriet also had a run-in with each other just hours before the ceremony.
However, as Kim arrived at the church, Harriet hung around in the background and, upon catching Kim’s eye, mouthed: “I’m sorry.”
Moments later, both Kim and Harriet were caught up in the storm which killed the latter.
With Dan beginning to question whether Harriet truly wanted to be with him, will the truth about her feelings for Will ever come out?
Emmerdale continues on Friday at 7.30pm on ITV.
