Emmerdale fans have been left devastated by the Woolpack fire, which was confirmed to be happening when the ITV soap released some spoiler pics earlier this month.

When the deadly Emmerdale spoilers were released, little information was given, with the photos showing the beloved village pub exploding with a huge blast.

There was no information about who would be involved, but fans were speculating that the likes of Chas (Lucy Pargeter), Paddy (Dominic Brunt), Marlon (Mark Charnock) or even Al (Michael Wildman) could be caught up in the blaze and die.

However, they were far from the scene, but killer Meena and her sister Manpreet were right outside.

The sisters were arguing after it seemed that Manpreet had finally figured out Meena's evil secret after she continued to dig for information.

Eventually, Meena smashed a bottle and held it up to attack her sister, before getting punched in the face while Manpreet ran for safety at the Woolpack.

Before she was able to get inside, an explosion erupted and the sisters were blasted and left laying in the rubble after Al intentionally set fire to the pub.

In the Christmas Day episode, fans watched as Al got another threatening message and saw him talking to Ellis (Aaron Anthony).

Fans were left wondering if Al would be the one to set fire to the Woolpack, after spoilers revealed they'd see him staring at it as he came up with a plan to get out of his Gavin nightmare.

And with the not-so-festive episode finally airing, they finally learned how the deadly fire started – and exactly what destruction took place.

Confirming fans' suspicions, Al placed a whisk in the microwave and turned on the gas before leaving the pub – meanwhile, Meena and Manpreet were left having a row just outside.

Their fate is left unknown, but fans have been very hopeful that the explosion means evil Meena's end is near after her time on the soap as a horrifying serial killer.

Emmerdale producer Kate Brooks previously spoke of the fire and how it would affect the soap going forward.

She said: "It's not just the Woolpack that goes up in flames on Christmas Day as secrets and lies explode, ripping through the lives of some of our much loved villagers and making it a Christmas they'll never forget."

And as viewers prepare for the Boxing Day episode, who will be out for revenge?

Emmerdale continues Boxing Day at 7pm on ITV
