Former Bachelorette Hannah Brown Doesn't Want To Be An Influencer And Doesn't Want To Date An Influencer
When Hannah Brown went on Colton Underwood’s season of The Bachelor, she didn’t quite know what she was getting herself into.
“I didn’t aspire to be on The Bachelor,” she told Marie Claire in an interview in October. “I didn’t watch the show. I thought it was for losers truly.”
Having never seen The Bachelor prior to starring in it, Brown was also unaware of the show’s new-ish Instagram influencer dynamic. In recent years, being on the show “for the right reasons” translates to going on the show to get married, not to become Instagram famous.
Brown, bless her heart, was there to get married.
On November 8, Brown was interviewed by Ryan Seacrest on On Air With Ryan Seacrest. The reality star spoke about dating post-Bachelorette and what she’s looking for in a partner.
Why Hannah Brown doesn’t want to use a dating app
“I actually had this conversation with someone last night,” she said. “How do you meet people?”
Co-host Tanya Rad told Brown that she’s been using a dating app called Hinge recently and suggested Brown give it a try. But the former bachelorette expressed her concern that app users might have ulterior motives. She’s worried people may want to date her because of her newfound fame.
“I’m so over people that just want to be [Instagram famous],” she said. “… I went on the reality TV show not really understanding the full — I didn’t watch the show before — now that people follow me on Instagram, it’s kind of weird and I don’t want to be an influencer.”
Brown continued: “Of course I have that opportunity and there will be times where I decide is this something I want to do or not? But that is not my main focus at all and I feel like a lot of people that go on reality TV, that is the goal and they’re fine with that, and that is infuriating.”
Brown still has strong feelings about how her season ended. She also has strong feelings about going on the show with the intention of become Instagram famous.
“Especially for somebody like me who was really pure going into it and then you get freaked over, I just can’t deal with it. I really can’t deal with it,” she said.
What Hannah Brown wants in a partner
So what’s Brown looking for in a partner? Someone who “has their crap together.”
“So I just want somebody that is a professional that already has their crap together and would almost like encourage me to not do the influencer thing [and] to have like a real career.”
But, for right now, Brown’s mostly focused on winning that Mirrorball anyway, not dating.
She told Seacrest that though competing on Dancing With The Stars has sparked an “internal struggle” at times, she still very much wants to win.
