GRANGE Hill star Simone Hyams looks unrecognisable more than 30 years after playing character Caroline "Calley" Donnington. 

Simone became a household name after playing Calley in the hit BBC1 high school drama from 1985 to 1991.


Simone's life today is a far cry from her time as an actress on Grange Hill.

After starring in a string of top shows, the 50-year-old has turned her back on that life to become a corporate events manager for Virgin.

Simone appeared in the first episode of Grange Hill.

She was a main cast-member from 1985 to 1991.

Other roles included parts in The Bill and US hit show Baywatch.

The star also had a walk-on part in Michael Winner’s 1993 film Dirty Weekend.

Grange Hill was one of the longest-running shows in British television history.

The classic BBC school drama – is making a comeback as a movie, with creator Phil Redmond reportedly inviting its original stars to return as grandparents.

It comes 14 years after the Beeb decided to pull the plug on Grange Hill, saying the show "had run its course".

The hit drama – which ran from 1978 to 2008 – covered major issues from drug use, teen pregnancy and HIV to knife crime, mental health and sexual assault.

The show's characters became some of the most recognisable faces on TV, but someactors who played them now lead very different lives today from acting success to jail time.
