Greg Wise and Karen Hauer will return to the Strictly Come Dancing dance floor on Saturday as the pair battle to keep their place in the BBC contest. It’s been somewhat of a mixed bag for the pair so far, with Karen and Greg loitering toward the foot of the Strictly leaderboard in each of the three opening weeks. Discussing their time on the show and their dance in week four which they’ll hope will rocket them towards higher scores, Greg and Karen joined It Takes Two host Janette Manrara on Thursday’s episode of the sister show.
However, while discussing the reception their Movie Week performance received from the judges, Greg couldn’t resist a dig at prime minister Boris Johnson.
The joke came after BBC Two viewers learned the two would be dancing to the Macarena on Saturday.
Janette probed: “What did you think when you found out you were dancing to the Macarena?”
“I thought by Tuesday I’d want to rip my ears off,” Greg joked as Janette and Karen burst into laughter.
Greg continued: “But I’ve got to say, this version is great and I’m really loving it.
“And because the dance is daft and wild and fun and we giggle, you need that music because it’s daft music.”
Janette then brought up the criticism the pair faced previously in Movie Week, in which they achieved a modest score of 26 from the judges.
“In Movie Week, you were brilliant at bringing the characterisation of (James) Bond into your Paso Double,” Janette weighed back in.
“And I know that you’ll carry it forward into all the other routines you do,
“But the judges did mention there was a bit of a disconnect between your top half and your legs,” the former Strictly pro added.
“So are you both focussing a little bit more on the lower half this week?” Janette asked, prompting Greg to reply with a quip about the PM.
“I actually had borrowed legs for the – did you not know?” Greg sarcastically replied, prompting Janette to ask: “Whose legs did you borrow?”

“Boris Johnson’s I think,” Greg remarked, blaming the negative reception his dance received on the prime minister.
“Oh, I see, got you,” Janette joked back before Greg finally quipped: “I have my legs firmly screwed in.”
A clip then played of Karen and Greg in rehearsals for their upcoming routines as cheers erupted in the It Takes Two studio
Saturday will give the pair the perfect chance to impress the likes of Shirley Ballas, Motsi Mabuse, Anton du Beke and Craig Revel Harwood.
However, two stars who won’t be returning for week four are Robert Webb and Ugo Monye.
Ugo and his pro partner Oti Mabuse have had to withdraw from this week’s show following a lingering injury to the former rugby star.
And Robert and partner Dianne Buswell have withdrawn from the competition entirely due to health reasons.
Strictly Come Dancing continues Saturday at 7pm on BBC One.
