Holly Willoughby lets slip Phillip Schofields new This Morning replacement

Holly Willoughby may have just dropped a major hint about who will be taking over Phillip Schofield's role on This Morning, as she emotionally addressed his affair scandal.

During her heartfelt statement, Holly made sure to express her gratitude to several members of the This Morning family, leaving fans speculating about her possible nod towards the replacement for her former co-host.

Earlier this week, Josie Gibson stepped in to co-present alongside Holly, while Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary took the reins for the majority of Holly's extended break.

Additionally, Craig Doyle joined Alison on two separate occasions during the past weeks while Dermot enjoyed some time off for his birthday.

When Holly returned to the show on Monday, she began with a poignant speech, acknowledging the admission of Phillip's affair with a younger colleague, which ultimately led to his decision to step down from ITV.

Taking a deep breath, Holly began: "Good morning. Josie, thank you for being here."

She continued: "Firstly, are you OK? I hope so. It feels very strange sitting here without Phil, and I imagine you might be feeling a lot like I have—shaken, troubled, let down, worried for the well-being of people on all sides of what's been going on, and full of questions."

Addressing the situation further, Holly expressed: "You, me, and all of us at This Morning gave our love and support to someone who was not telling the truth, who acted in a way that they themselves felt they had to resign from ITV and step down from a career that they loved. That is a lot to process.”

She went on to say that she welcomes a “new chapter” and hoped to find “strength in her fellow co-stars.

“It's equally hard to see the toll that it's taken on their own mental health. I think what unites us all now is a desire to heal for the health and well-being of everyone.

“I hope that as we start this new chapter and get back to a place of warmth and magic that this show holds for all of us, we can find strength in each other."

With determination, Holly reassured viewers that she, Josie, Dermot, Alison, Craig, and the entire This Morning team would "work hard" to continue delivering the show they all cherish.

While the official announcement is yet to be made, speculation about Phillip's replacement has been circulating.

According to odds provided by the team at OLBG, Alison is currently the favorite, with odds of 6/4, closely followed by Dermot at 11/4.

Josie is next in line at 7/1, but there's also a possibility that Rylan Clark, a former presenter on This Morning, could be in the running with odds of 9/1.
