Im A Celeb campmate reveals why ITV show stars are forced to stay up until 4am every night
Former I'm A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! campmate Victoria Derbyshire has revealed the surprising reason why the stars on the show are forced to stay up until 4am every morning.
The 53 year old was a contestant on the popular series last year – the first time ITV bosses had to move the location from Australia to Wales due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
As a result, the newsreader explained that the campmates last year and the ones on this year's season, including Frankie Bridge, Richard Madeley, and Naughty Boy, have to get used to the show's new timings.
Despite being in Wales, Victoria explained that the show is still filmed with the Australian timezone in mind, so trials usually take place after 9pm with the celebs not returning with the food they've won until gone midnight.
Speaking to North Wales Live, Victoria explained: "Because it's filmed in the UK again this year, unlike in Australia, every night is a very, very late night – we didn't get to bed until three sometimes four in the morning (obviously we didn't have watches or phones, so those times are estimates).
"This is because the trial takes place after Ant and Dec have come into the castle, live, to announce who the public has voted for.
"That individual then goes off to do the challenge and often doesn't arrive back until midnight – 1 o'clock in the morning."
Victoria explained that after the food gets delivered, they still have to "chop, wash and work out how to cook" before settling in to eat around 2.30 am.
By the time they crawl into bed, it is usually 4am and it is usually lunchtime when they wake up to eat breakfast.
This year's I'm A Celebrity has already been entertaining viewers since its launch on Sunday night.
Danny Miller went head to head with DJ Snoochie Shy during a horrific eating trial following the public's vote.
The Emmerdale star won the trial with viewers saying they were "so proud" of him after watching him struggle while vomiting and shaking almost all the way through.
It comes as David also got fans talking after he kept some people up with his loud snoring.
Even Dame Arlene Phillips told him off after a disturbed night's sleep, and fans said at home they wouldn't be able to cope on the show with David's snoring every night.
