Jake Quickenden vows not to 'argue back' with 'horrendous' trolls who said his newborn son ‘is ugly as f***'

JAKE Quickenden is taking the admirable – but extremely difficult – decision to bite his tongue when faced with the vile comments of trolls towards son Leo.

In March, The X Factor star, 32, was left stunned at disgusting remarks about the tot, with one bully suggesting the little boy needs "Botox" and is "ugly as f***."

The star's child – who he shares with stunning girlfriend Sophie Church – made his Instagram debut last month shortly after The Sun exclusively revealed he was born on February 26th.

Speaking exclusively to The Sun Online he has told how he will now be the better person if such sick scenarios again rear their head.

Speaking of Leo's presence on social media, Jake said: "I didn’t want to have to keep him a secret. He’s my son and I’m proud of him and I want to show the world how proud I am.

"Obviously the emotions I felt when he was trolled was anger and like surprise.

"I understand if someone doesn’t like me, I can be a bit annoying so I get that. But to troll a baby to try and get a reaction out of me, is a little bit low.

"But you have to think, these people might need the random act of kindness. These people are probably the ones that need it.

"So I’ve got to try and tone myself down and not argue back, it’s hard as a parent your first instinct is to protect your kid.

"It’s hard but you kind of ignore it now and move on and appreciate all the positive stuff."

Jake went on to confess how some of his DMs were "horrendous."

He confessed: "I did share quite a few and it makes me sad sometimes because I share it and then I’m sat feeling guilty that the person that said it might be getting trolled.

"And I don’t know if that’s because I’m an actually alright guy.

"The comments I tried to delete as quickly as I could so no one could see them. It’s one of those things and unfortunately the dark side of social media."

Talking of how he deals with his own anxiety, coupled with the worries of being a new dad, he added: "I’ve dealt with my anxiety for 10 years now, so I know when I am having a down day.

"I know to talk to people if I am and Soph."

Jake also let slip to The Sun Online how he will propose to Sophie before heading away from home for six months, on a cruise ship gig.

The excited performer confessed he's looking for the "perfect moment" to get down on one knee in front of his girlfriend of almost three years.

As part of the Mental Health Awareness Week, thortful’s creative community has produced an exclusive range of greeting cards called the Are You Ok? collection – the perfect way to let someone know you’re thinking of them.
