Josie Gibson fights back tears on This Morning as Olivia Newton Johns co-star shares tribute

It was an emotional start to ITV This Morning this week, as tributes continued to pour in for Olivia Newton John who died has died aged 73.

One particularly emotional testimony came from her former Grease co-star Barry Pearl who played the character of T Bird Doody in the iconic film.

Speaking to presenters Josie Gibson and Craig Doyle, the actor teared up whilst giving a heartfelt tribute to his late friend and leaving Josie Gibson fighting back tears as well.

Barry, 72, said: "Olivia didn't meander through life. The camera loved her. She embodied this role like no other and it placed her in another strata and deservedly so. She was a force of a delicate nature.

"She had this sweetness about her. She was always looking to do good."

He also said: "She's left an amazing legacy that will continue to impact for time and memoriam" adding, "Olivia's message was love and light."

Fans of Grease will also be delighted to hear that the original cast, which includes John Travolta, 68, and Stockard Channing are all still close friends.

Barry said: "We remained friends. The entire Grease family are all still in touch with each other. We created this bond by creating this piece of art and it's kept us together all these years. We're all still very close and it's a major loss for us all."

After his tribute Josie, 37, said: "Barry, those words were just beautiful." And Craig, 51, signed off by saying: "Take care of yourself today Barry, it's going to be a hard day for you."

Barry then added: "Thank you very much for having me on to speak to the collective heart of the fans because you folks are the ones that keep all of us relevant," and then his voice cracked as he added: "And she (Olivia) was well aware of that and treated all of her fans with grace and dignity, and love, and light."

Cutting back the studio, Josie's voice caught in her throat as she thanked him for the interview.
