Laura Tobin forced to step in for Charlotte Hawkins after GMB technical issues
Good Morning Britain presenter Charlotte Hawkins had to be replaced by Laura Tobin after she suffered a series of technical blunders on Tuesday's show.
Charlotte was presenting the first half an hour of GMB when her sound cut out, meaning viewers couldn't hear her report on the pandemic and how it has impacted women worse than men.
Things got worse when Charlotte's muffled microphone failed to picked up on her segment on snow around the UK, leading Laura to step in.
Laura rushed to help Charlotte as she spoke over the noise and began interviewing Juliet Dunlop and Nick Dixon who were based in different places in the UK to report on the show.
Afterwards, Charlotte apologised to viewers at home and thanked Laura for "stepping in".
She said: "Well, apologies, I've had sound issues with my microphone this morning.
"I've swapped it now. Thanks for stepping in there, Laura!"
However, Charlotte quickly bounced back from the blunder later in the show as she left Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid thrilled by twerking on air.
She was seen dancing to the GMB opening credits as Piers shared his joy at the hilarious moment.
He said: "I don't think any video has ever excited the team more than that here – or made something in me slightly die.
Susanna added: "We got very excited by that.
"Congratulations to Katie Wong, Amy Lester and Thao Therese Nguyen, they originally did the BBC…"
As Charlotte continued to dance, Piers cheekily told her that he could see why she got voted off Strictly Come Dancing back in 2017.
He said: "Oh my God, the things people will do to get a bit more air time.
"It's baffling why Brendan Cole got kicked off Strictly for that. Just reminding the nation again why they voted you straight off."
GMB continues tomorrow at 6am on ITV.
