First appearing in the second-ever season of Law and Order: SVU, ADA Alexandra Cabot (played by Stephanie March) quickly cemented herself as one of the most popular and intriguing characters in the crime drama. So much show, the NBC franchise even had her lead her own spin-off, Conviction, in the mid-noughties before bringing her back for a 2018 cameo after her exit six years earlier. Now, however, actor March has moved on to pastures new and will soon return as part of hotly-anticipated The CW series, Naomi.
Helmed by When They See Us showrunner Ava DuVernay and Arrow writer Jill Blankenship, March will take on a pivotal role in the comic-book series.
Based on the comics of the same name, Naomi follows a plain teenager’s trials and tribulations from a sleepy US town to the layers of the multiverse.
Naomi descends into a supernatural investigation when an unexplainable occurrence rocks her town and discovers unthinkable and intergalactic secrets.
The Law and Order: SVU star won’t be taking on the lead role of Naomi but her character is still bound to play a major role.
March has been cast as Akira – a supernatural being from many planets away.
Seeking solace on Earth, she soon crosses paths with Naomi and the youngster’s quest for answers.
A release date for the new CW series has been confirmed for January 11 by showrunner DuVernay.
And the Alexandra Cabot actor isn’t the only recognisable name signed up to star in the series.

Starring alongside March is Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD star Alexander Wraith as Dee.
Wu Assassins star Cranston Johnson and newcomer Camila Moreno will also appear alongside March.
Since leaving her role on Law and Order: SVU, March has also gone on to star in Hulu’s Solar Opposites and big-screen mockumentary The Social Ones.
Following the news of her casting in Naomi, March took to social media to express her excitement at landing the role – as did showrunner DuVernay.

DuVernay penned on Twitter: “We’re thrilled to have this powerhouse join the cast of @TheCWNaomi.
“Coming January 11 to the CW from @ARRAYNow and @warnerbrostv.”
March decided to share a snap of DuVernay’s tweet on her Instagram and shared an excitable message of her own.
“Work is good,” she began. “Playing a superhero is even better. Doing it with @ava is the freaking best. #NAOMI.”
Needless to say it didn’t take long for hundreds of March’s 94k followers to inundate the star with their messages of congratulations.
@ivona4782 replied: “And having you back on our screens is freaking AWESOME!”
While @missgowhitely echoed: “Stephanie! This is so exciting!!! [Fire emoji] I can’t wait!”
