AJ Bunker and Danny Bibby were dumped from the Love Island villa on Wednesday's episode.

Lucinda Strafford, Chloe Burrows, AJ, Teddy Soares, Danny and Toby Aromolaran all faced being dumped after receiving the lowest votes from the public on Tuesday.

After their names were called, the six Islanders had to stand in front of the fire pit while another brutal twist was revealed on the hit ITV2 dating show.

The contestants received a text which read: "Only one boy and one girl will be going home tonight, that decision is in the hands of your fellow Islanders."

Millie then got another message which said: "Millie, Liberty, Kaz and Faye. You must now decide which boy to dump from the island."

While Aaron received a text which read: "Aaron, Liam, Jake and Hugo. You must now decide which girl to dump."

Hugo Hammond, who recently 'friend zoned' AJ, revealed that they had picked her to be dumped while Millie Court revealed that the girls had chosen Danny, who has garnered more than 1,000 Ofcom complaints since his arrival last week.

Danny and AJ, who recently kissed, left the villa together as they teased their "connection" and said they will see "what happens" in the outside world with their blossoming romance.

Voiceover host Iain Stirling teased the tense turn of events on Monday night's episode when he asked the public to choose their favourite girl and boy contestants to save.

On Tuesday night, the Islanders had a fun 70s-themed party, but it was soon interrupted when they received a text calling them to the fire pit.

Faye Winter read: "Islanders. Can you all gather around the fire pit?"

Hugo received the next text which added: "The public have been voting for their favourite girl and favourite boy. Those with the fewest votes are at risk of being dumped from the Island tonight."

Talking after their exit, AJ teased meeting up with Danny again, she said: "Yeah, me and Danny did click straight away. It’s a shame we only sort of got to have one chat before this happened. Again, it’s early days, we’ll see what happens I guess. I’m open to see what happens."

Asked whether she would go back on Love Island, AJ said: "I’d definitely go back in it was fun. I probably will still keep watching, root for the guys and see how it all pans out. And it’ll be interesting to see how strong those couples are. The couples are actually quite strong already, so it’ll be interesting to see what the turn of events are."

While Danny said of AJ: "Me and AJ are a lot more suited. Obviously, she’s my type on paper looks wise and she’s up for a laugh. She smashed the first challenge [cat and mouse] when she was new like me. She put her all into it. She bossed that. Full of confidence and I liked it."

Asked whether he would meet up with her outside the villa, he teased: "Yeah, potentially."
