Peter Andre gushes over ‘hero’ doctor wife Emily as he says lockdown has brought them closer

PETER Andre has gushed over his "hero" doctor wife Emily as he reflected on the year – revealing that lockdown brought them closer together.

The 47-year-old star admitted that although being the primary carer for his children was sometimes "a challenge", he is "proud" of how everybody coped.

Writing in his new! magazine column, the Mysterious Girl hitmaker explained: "This year has reaffirmed just how much my family means to me.

"I always knew it, but being a teacher, nanny and cleaner while Emily was working on the frontline really brought it home.

"It was a challenge at times but it's something I'll never forget and I'm so proud of the kids for how they coped and how hard they worked."

Peter shares six-year-old Amelia and four-year-old Theo with Emily, and is also dad to 15-year-old Junior and 13-year-old Princess who he shares with ex-wife Katie Price.

Heaping praise on Emily directly, Peter continued: "The NHS is amazing and I'm so proud of Emily and all the people who've worked on the frontline during the pandemic.

"However soppy it sounds, she's kind of my hero."

The star married Emily in 2015, and she worked tirelessly as a NHS doctor throughout 2020 while Peter stayed at home to look after the kids.

The brunette beauty contracted coronavirus in April, and Pete concluded his piece by sharing his gratitude that his loved ones are now happy and healthy for Christmas.

He wrote: "After going through all that, I'm just thankful that we're ending the year with everyone being well."

Earlier this week, Peter was forced to hit back after he was accused of breaking coronavirus lockdown rules by having Santa Claus visit the kids at home.

Santa landed on Peter's doorstep and strolled into the Andre's huge home with his bushy beard and thick moustache barely covering his mouth.

Although it was filmed before the introduction of strict Tier 4, fans questioned why Father Christmas had forgotten to bring his protective face mask.

One person typed: "Why would you let a stranger in your house without a mask on?"

To which Pete quipped: "It's Santa he's not human".
