Prince Philip’s strong personal views on members of the Royal Family speaking about themselves to the press have been revealed by his close friend Gyles Brandreth. Mr Brandreth told GMB that the late Duke deeply regretted that the Royal Family has been turned into a “soap opera.” He added Prince Philip believed that members of his family should never sit down for an interview about their personal lives, calling to do so “madness.”
Mr Brandreth told GMB: “I know exactly what he would have made of all of this, he was heartbroken as he said to me that the Royal Family has been turned into a soap opera.
“And he regretted that very much indeed.
“He also regretted members of the Royal Family giving personal interviews.
“He felt it was to quote him ‘madness, no good ever comes of it.'”
