Eamonn Holmes has reportedly marked the end of an era after being rumoured to be making shock exit from This Morning after 15 years on the hit ITV show.
It is thought his wife Ruth Langsford, who is the longest-serving presenter on the show, is also preparing to step down after her husband’s move.
And while loyal fans of the ITV couple bid farewell to the broadcasting couple, another beloved celebrity couple are hot on their heels to snatch up the new role.
Rochelle and Marvin Humes are thought to be fighting it out for the new This Morning position after the former Saturday’s singer developed a loyal following while she covered in for Holly Willoughby this summer.
A source told OK! Magazine: “Bosses love Rochelle Humes and I wouldn’t be surprised if she was the first person they spoke to about the slot.
“She always impresses when she stands in for Holly and has a great working relationship with the team.
“She’s exactly the sort of person they see as the future of the show.”
According to the bookies Betfair, the showbiz couple have been given the odds of 10/1 but warned there are 13 other names in the running for the highly sort-after post.
I’m a Celebrity star Vernon Kay is another favourite to take up the post in addition to The Chase host Bradley Walsh.
Also in the running is Rylan Clark, who rose to fame on X Factor and now co-hosts the Strictly spin-off It Takes Two.
The 61-year-old presenter is set to join TV channel GB NEWS alongside former Good Morning Britain host Piers Morgan.
According to The Mirror, a source said: “Eamonn’s move to GB News marks the end of an era.
“He’ll be missed by many ITV viewers but, the truth is, this job offer probably came at just the right moment for both him and ITV. All good things come to an end.”
