Ruth Langsford insulted as shes compared to a Percy Pig and Kermit on ITVs This Morning
Ruth Langsford suffered a backhanded compliment on ITV This Morning yesterday at the hands of guest Alice Beer.
Ruth, 62, delighted viewers with her welcome return to the ITV daytime show alongside Rylan Clark who was back himself after a 5 year hiatus to fill in for Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield.
Loose Women panellist Ruth wore a bright pink suit suit teamed with a light pink vest and said at the start of the show: "I've gone a bit Barbie today."
But guest Alice Beer thought Ruth's look was less Barbie and more a confectionary pig as, returning from an advert break, Ruth announced: "Alice Beer just said I look like a Percy Pig!"
Rylan, 33, and Alice, 53, started laughing as Ruth said: "Well I don't need to come here to be insulted."
Alice quickly back pedalled adding: "One of my very favourite things in the whole world may I say!"
As Rylan affirmed: "What a claw back!" and Ruth added: "Well saved!"
Still smarting from the commenting, Ruth then turned to the camera to say what was coming up next but couldn't resist saying: "First though, the reason Alice is here – apart from insulting me – the new school year is just around the corner."
And this morning's show didn't get off to a much better start with Rylan calling Ruth "Kermit" in reference to her all green suit being like the Muppet frog, to which she replied: "Yesterday Percy Pig, today Kermit."
There was plenty of cheekiness on the show yesterday as Ruth and Rylan returned to the presenting sofa and Rylan couldn't resist dropping his first cheeky innuendo of the week-long run during the first segment of the show.
The This Morning crew were committed to teasing Rylan about his experience with a reptile earlier this month when the 33 year old discovered a grass snake in his home in Brentwood and took to Instagram to share his horror with fans.
Rylan was terrified to discover the creature slithering along the bottom of his bi-fold doors and could be heard screaming in a clip uploaded to Instagram Stories, desperately asking his followers: “There is a f*****g snake in my house. What do you do? What do you do?"
The team brought out a huge, real python to show Rylan who looked worried as Ruth said: "Imagine your tiny grass snake compared to that."
Laughing Rylan replied: "I think the bigger they are, the better.
