Sarah Jayne Dunn said she wanted to play Mandy on Hollyoaks 'forever' just days before OnlyFans firing

HOLLYOAKS star Sarah Jayne Dunn said she wanted to play Mandy on the Channel 4 soap “forever” – just days before she was sacked.

Yesterday The Sun revealed how Channel 4 bosses axed the actress after she joined adult website OnlyFans – saying her raunchy online content is at odds with the show’s young audience.

Sarah has enjoyed six separate stints on the teen-focussed soap as Mandy Richardson – one of the show’s biggest characters – most recently reprising her role in 2017.

And she was hoping to stay on the soap for as long as possible before the shock axing.

She told The Capsule podcast: "It feels like home because I know the character so well.

"I've played her for so long that I can play it without thinking about it. I love the people who are there. That is what has always brought me back to Hollyoaks – the crew and the cast. It's like going back to family.”

She continued: "I don't mean this to sound ungrateful but it's convenient. It's down the road and I can sort of do it without thinking.

"And I can enjoy it. So I would stay as long as they'll have me now.

"Because I can tick the box of all the other creative things that I want to do in my downtime from work, and work everything around there.

"But I can still have this nice job and have the creative outlet of acting."

Last month we revealed Sarah has been stripping off online for several weeks, prompting a warning from bosses over her conduct because of the show’s young audience.

But after refusing to quit the site despite the threat of losing her six figure salaried job on the Channel 4 soap, she has left the show in a dispute with executives after first appearing on screens in 1996.

Bosses said they had been unable to "reach a resolution".

Sarah has said her decision to join the controversial 18+ network, was about “taking back control” after previously posing for lads mags earlier in her career.
