Shirley Ballas reflects on steamy scenes in novel as she addresses affair

This Morning: Shirley Ballas on ‘steamy’ book

Shirley Ballas has revealed there are some raunchy scenes in her new crime novel Murder on the Dance Floor.

The Strictly Come Dancing star appeared on Wednesday’s instalment of This Morning as she spoke to hosts Holly Willoughby and Josie Gibson about her new book.

However, it appeared as though there were some naughty chapters in the novel and Josie couldn’t help but try and find out more.

The ITV host asked: “We are daytime TV, but I want to know, and I know Holly wants to know, how steamy does this get?”

As Holly agreed that she was curious about the raunchiness of the novel, Shirley cheekily grinned.

She replied: “Steamy, but classy. It’s got all the ballroom dancing, it’s got behind the scenes.

“We’re at Blackpool, it’s got murder, it’s got lies, it’s got that backstabbing feeling that we get in every industry but in mine particularly.

“I wanted to really place it more true to life even though it’s fiction and I have to be creative.”

In the interview, the 63-year-old confessed readers will have to guess if Shirley witnessed aspects of the book, took part in scenarios or if it’s completely made up.

Josie questioned: “So Shirley there are parts of this book, you’re telling me, that could be true?”

Falling back onto the couch, she coyly replied: “Did I say that? You look at the world, whether you’re watching Strictly or watching my world of ballroom dancing and it’s my full-time job.

“I just wanted to put together stories of things that I have been part of or witnessed in the industry, it’s not all baubles, bangles and beads.”

Giving more information about the novel, Shirley told Holly and Josie her character in the book is called Lily and she embarks on an affair with Javier

She teased: “Those scenes are very steamy and very hot! Even my mother when I passed her bedroom said,’ Oh you can’t say that! Oh good lord Shirley, get a grip!’”

However, the dancer admits she had to change the ending as her mother didn’t think she’d got it quite right.

As the novel is a murder mystery, the dancer revealed nobody who has read it so far has been able to solve who the murderer is.

This Morning continues weekdays on ITV from 10am.
