Sinitta has revealed that Simon Cowell is working on a revamped version of The X Factor that we could see on TV as early as this year.

Sinitta isn't just excited about her ex-boyfriend's new project as a viewer, as she has admitted she is also hoping for a role on the show.

The So Macho singer appeared on Good Morning Britain on Tuesday 18 May, where she broke the news that X Factor fans have been waiting for.

She told Susanna Reid and Adil Ray: "I’m not sure if it’s going to be this year or next year, but [Simon Cowell is] working on a revamped X Factor, yes.

"Which I’m very excited about, it needs a little bit of a revamp, right?"

Adil then asked Sinitta, who often joined Simon at judges' houses and in early audition rounds, whether she would be taking part in the new series.

She replied: "Well that’s the big question, isn’t it. Am I going to be a judge, am I going to be on it, I’ll start pestering him now and see what happens."

In 2009, Sinitta famously made a grand entrance in the judges' houses round wearing just a few strategically-placed palm leaves, but music boss Simon told her to go inside and put some clothes on.

Simon broke his back in August while testing out an electric bike, but Sinitta shared that her best pal's recovery was going well, although she hasn't agreed with some of his post-accident lifestyle choices.

She said: "I saw him actually at Christmas, as soon as lockdown lifted I flew out there (Barbados). I would have gone as soon as he had the accident but we couldn’t.

"I flew out there and I couldn’t believe it, the first thing I see is idiot – I’m calling him idiot but I don’t mean it that way – idiot on a jet ski. He was on a jet ski! My mother and I were like if you hurt yourself on a jet ski and hit a wave or whatever, like should you really be on a jet ski.

"(He said) 'I know darling, but I’m fine, I’m fine.' Just stop, we’ve all been so worried and you’re on a jet ski. That’s how fine he is, back to normal."

The X Factor ran for 15 series and last aired in 2018 when Dalton Harris won.

Since then, there has been a celebrity version won by Megan McKenna and a band search version, but as of yet, there are no details on what the revamped series could entail.
