On Saturday the competition began to heat up after the celebrities and their professional partners returned to the dance floor for the second week of Strictly Come Dancing. As well as one pair becoming the first to be eliminated, another dancing duo didn’t make it to the screens but have officially confirmed their return.
Professional Amy Dowden and McFly’s Tom Fletcher were noticeably absent from the latest episode of Strictly Come Dancing.
The duo were forced to miss the show after they both tested positive for coronavirus after the first week’s show.
Despite this, it was confirmed Amy and Tom would be making their return to the dance floor next week.
The 31-year-old professional took to Instagram to share a selfie of herself with Tom pre-covid to share the news.
In the caption, she wrote: “I can’t tell you how much I am missing today’s band call, hair and makeup, dress run and the nerves of the live show.
“I can’t even begin to explain but so grateful to be able to return next week for movie week with the lovely @tomfletcher #mcflowden,” she confirmed.
Amy added: “Sending all my love and luck in the world to all the fabulous couples today.
“I’m going to be on the edge of my sofa shouting and supporting you all (you will probs hear me at Elstree)! Tune in tonight 18:45 for another great show,” the professional concluded.

The other contestants on Strictly Come Dancing took to her comments to share their well wishes.
TV chef and presenter Tilly Ramsey wrote: “See you soon!! Missing you both.”
“Can’t wait to have you back with us, I’m channelling your fierceness in my cha-cha walks today,” commented John Whaite.
Comedian Judi Love shared: “We can’t wait to see you guys back in the dance floor.”
While Olympic swimmer Adam Peaty wrote: “Can’t wait to have you both back soon.”
Amy’s confirmation comes after a source close to production told The Sun, the pair could potentially miss two weeks of the dance competition.
There were concerns about Tom as he could be forced to miss another week if he still felt unwell, even after his isolation period was over.
The source told The Sun: “Amy and Tom need to be isolated until Tuesday at least and then they will have to undergo another test and make sure they are fit and well enough to train.
“Just being passed Covid-free doesn’t mean they will be out of the woods,” they added.
The source claimed the duo would only have three days to prepare and get their dance routine memorised for movie week.
They continued: “Amy is sharing ideas, steps and moves via video for Tom. They are both determined that as soon as they are able to start training again that they will be able to hit the ground running.”
However, with Amy’s confirmation, it appears these claims have been squashed and it’s safe to say the duo must be feeling better if they’re returning to the dance floor next week.
This week saw the elimination of actress Nina Wadia and her partner Neil Jones, after judges spotted mistakes and technical issues with their Tango.
Strictly Come Dancing continues Saturdays at 6.45pm on BBC One.
