Strictly judge Shirley Ballas in fresh cancer scare after finding lump in her shoulder

STRICTLY judge Shirley Ballas has suffered a fresh cancer alert over a lump in her shoulder.

The 60-year-old is enduring a worrying wait on test results.

There is a history of cancer in Shirley’s family and she has already had two scares. Now she is hoping the latest swelling is just a ganglion, a benign growth.

The Strictly Come Dancing favourite said: “It’s something between two bones and they are not really sure what it is yet.

“They have done the dye and the MRIs plus this and that. I get the results in a few weeks. The gentleman seems to think it will be fine but, still, it is worrying.”

Shirley’s mum Audrey was diagnosed with colon cancer in 2019, her grandmother had several procedures to combat the disease and her aunt also suffered from it.

She had her DD breast implants removed two years ago after a growth was discovered in her chest and had a colonoscopy after some worrying findings.

A ganglion may disappear with little or no treatment or may require surgery to be removed.

Shirley, who was positive with Covid-19 in March, is in good health and determined to be ready for series 19 of the BBC One dance show this autumn.

But she is not sure if her fellow judge Bruno Tonioli, 65, will be back due to uncertainty over restrictions between the UK and the US, where he also popular on Dancing With The Stars.

Shirley added: “I know Bruno. If he can make it, he will.”
