Strictlys Giovanni Pernice gets teary as he makes final with Rose Ayling-Ellis

Giovanni Pernice got teary during Sunday's results episode of Strictly Come Dancing as he made the final with Rose Ayling-Ellis.

During the latest instalment, it was announced that the duo had made it to Saturday's 2021 final along with AJ Odudu and Kai Widdrington, and John Whaite and Johannes Radebe.

Speaking to host Claudia Winkleman after their fate was revealed, Rose sweetly said of Giovanni: "I just want to say, thank you so much. You care so much, you put so much passion into it.

"It made me really determined to give it everything I've got, you are the best team mate I've ever had in my life, honestly, you are!"

To which Giovanni started to tear up as he gave his advice to Rose ahead of the final: "Just be you. Since day one, you've been a dream. You have been a dream in my entire life, just be you and I think we'll be more than okay."

Elsewhere, Rhys Stephenson sadly became the 11th star to be eliminated from the 2021 series of Strictly Come Dancing on Sunday night.

The CBBC presenter, 28, faced John in the show's dreaded dance-off where they had to perform their chosen routines again from Saturday night.

During the dance-off, Rhys and his professional partner Nancy Xu performed their Samba to It Had Better Be Tonight (Meglio Stasera) by Michael Bublé while John, 32, and Johannes performed their Jive to Higher Power by Coldplay.

Judges — Motsi Mabuse, Craig Revel Horwood, Anton Du Beke and Shirley Ballas — then delivered their feedback as they each revealed who they wanted to stay in the competition – John and Johannes.

After his fate on the BBC One show was revealed, Rhys said of his time on Strictly: "I might not have gotten to the final but I learnt so much from just being on this show, from everyone here who’s just supported us in this new family.
